Dental Crowns From Your Dentist in Bradenton

A cap that covers a tooth’s entire surface, dental crowns protect and strengthen a damaged tooth in a way amalgam and composite fillings aren’t able to.

What types of dental crowns are there?

While crowns made from porcelain are most commonly used because of their natural-looking appearance and highly durable finish, ceramic, metal, and gold materials can also be utilized for these dental prosthetics. Regardless of the material you prefer, your dental crown will be made to match the shape and size of your tooth, and feature a shade you’re most comfortable with.

How is a crown made and applied?

During your first appointment, molds will be taken of the tooth receiving the crown, as well as the area surrounding it. These molds will be sent to our laboratory professionals who will create your customized permanent crown.

Our dentist will then numb your tooth and remove any decay before shaping its surface in preparation for your crown. We’ll use one of the molds to create and place a temporary crown on your tooth. Approximately two weeks later, we’ll remove this crown, ensure that the tooth is clean, and carefully cement the completed permanent crown in place.

How long do crowns last?

With diligent daily hygiene care, regular visits to our office, and a nutritious diet, crowns have the potential to last upwards of 10 years!
